Come Down to Shibuya

Happy Thursday!

It's a fine day, but don't forget to protect yourself with a face mask!

Today's Quote:

"Because of a great love, one is courageous."

ーLao Tzu

= We've seen it in movies, read it in books, or actually felt it in real life. Being in love not only to a person, but with art, work, friends, or anything can be either good or bad for you. It will definitely change your perspective in life. That's why I think this quote is both an invitation and a warning.

Today's Grammatical Point:

This is a Latin abbreviation that stands for "id est". It basically means "in other words" or "that is", but to help you remember the two letters better, try remembering "In Essence". What comes after this should be clarification of what preceded it. Here are some examples:

  • I am a vegan, i.e., I do not eat animal-based products.
  • I finally bought that mug, i.e., the one we saw at Universal Studios, and I'll show it to you when we see each other!

Today's Column:

I came across this article that made me want to visit Shibuya as soon as I can. They have this cafe where talking is prohibited and listening is highly encouraged. All day long, they play classical music and I can only imagine how timeless it would feel to be in there.

Please take care of your health!
